- 1 / 5By Adam KWent to the Stokehouse downstairs at Pontoon on a Wednesday evening. It was the first time we had been back to the Stokehouse since the fire destroyed the old building. Before the fire the Stokehouse would be busy with people waiting for a table on any given night of the week. On this Wednesday there were almost no people, there was no music and certainly no atmosphere.
Our waitress (am I allowed to call her that?)... the female server was nice enough just lacking in personality, she was a serious droob.
All the food we ordered was dripping in oil and since they had foregone plates in favour of timber platters the oil dripped off the sides and through the slats of the table top onto our napkins and clothes.
The contemporary interior was lacking in warmth and charm and already looked dated.
Unfortunately in trying too hard to be fashionable the Stokehouse has lost their way.May 04, 2017
